Areas of Focus:

Play therapy, DBT, CBT, Person-centered

Through play-based and emotion-focused therapy, children are given the opportunity to explore and express their feelings in ways that feel natural, safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Because children often communicate through play, behavior, and actions rather than words, I work closely with them to better understand the emotions beneath their behaviors while helping them learn to identify, express, and regulate their feelings in healthy ways. I am passionate about supporting children and teens as they navigate difficult life experiences, including grief, divorce, separation, family changes, anxiety, and other emotional challenges.

My goal is to create a supportive environment where children feel seen, heard, and empowered while building the emotional tools they need to thrive both at home and in their relationships.

My extensive experience working with children has also given me a unique perspective in working with adults. I understand how early life experiences and attachment patterns can shape current behaviors, relationships, emotional responses, and coping styles. Using an integrative and compassionate approach to therapy, I help clients uncover the “why” behind their patterns while developing practical tools that foster emotional healing, self-awareness, resilience, and lasting change.

Biography:

I completed my Master’s in Social Work at Baylor University in May 2013. Since then, I have dedicated my career to supporting children, adults, and families through a variety of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. I began my professional journey working within the school setting, where I spent three years supporting children with behavioral, social, and emotional needs.

During this time, I collaborated closely with students, families, teachers, and school staff to help children build coping skills, improve emotional expression, and navigate challenges both academically and personally. This experience strengthened my passion for creating safe and supportive environments where children can feel understood and empowered. In addition to my school-based experience, I spent seven years working in the hospital setting, helping individuals and families cope during times of crisis, medical and mental health challenges, and unexpected life transitions. Supporting families during vulnerable moments taught me the importance of compassion, emotional support, and meeting people where they are with empathy and understanding.

Over the last several years, I have focused my work within the therapy setting, providing support to both adults and children struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, and everyday life stressors. My approach emphasizes creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to process emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and work toward meaningful growth and healing.
